Results of the 10th January 2010 Regional Disability meet at Hydro Pool Harrogate. Dynamic Disability Duo Qualify for 2009 UK school games
The UK School Games is a multi-sport event for the UK’s elite young athletes of school age. Chloë Selman 13yrs who trains with Doncaster Dartes SC & Chloe Buck 12yrs who trains with York City Bath SC have been selected to represent the England North team at the UK school games. Both girls will be part of the integrated programme which consist of Olympic and Paralympics swimming events, which will be held in September in Swansea.
Chloë Selman will be competing in the 50/100m freestyle and 100m backstroke events, Chloe Buck will compete in 100m butterfly & 100m Breaststroke. They will be up against some tuff competition from other teams from around the UK, but are very positive that they can have very positive performances that are not to be missed.
The dynamic duo who are often seen arm in arm at the Yorkshire championships are very excited on qualifying for the games and cant wait to meet the rest of the team from around the region.
Both girls have showed good sportsmanship and aptitude within the sport and are both a great asset to the Yorkshire region and the sport. Both girls, train extremely hard, and would like to thank their coaches from Doncaster Dartes and York city baths for all the help and support within there training as this couldn’t have been possible if the hadn’t given them the chance for inclusion within the sport and for there commitment to disability swimming. They would also like to thank everyone in the region who has supported the girls over the past year. The UK school games are combined into a four-day event, and the environment is designed to replicate the feel of major event such as the Olympic Games, Paralympics Games and Commonwealth Games. The UK School Games seeks to create an inspirational and motivational setting which encourages more young people to take part and succeed in sport. Report from British International Disability long course Swimming Championships 2008 Several of Yorkshires disabilities swimmers swam at the British International Disability Swimming Championship 2008 Held at Ponds forge International venue. The swimmers were James Crisp & Zoe Cain from City of Sheffield, Zoe Clayton from Doncaster Dartes, Chloe Selman from Stocksbridge Pentaqua and Chloe Buck from York City. The swimmers performance was excellent and many PBs was performed by them. Everyone swam to their full potential and the wins were more than justified. All swimmers have worked very hard all year for this event, they have surpassed there own expectations. Several medals were won by James Crisp, Zoe Clayton and Chloe Selman. James Crisp has also been selected to represent the GB squad at the Beijing Paralympics and Chloe Buck has been accepted onto the British Swimming National talent programme. Everyone had a great time and Karen Selman disability team manager and YSA disability officer would like to congratulate all swimmers on there achievements at the internationals and wishes them good luck for the future season and James at the Paralympics. Other partners assisting the championships are Water Direct, Ponds Forge and the Sheffield City Council's Major Sports Events Unit. Disability Swimmers win npower awards April 08
Two of the Yorkshire disability swim team swimmers have won prestigious npower Yorkshire sports awards. This is the first time two of the team’s swimmers have won the awards and the disability team is showing some great potential in securing its future in swimming.
Chloe Selman, age 12 years, was nominated and won the npower most promising newcomer junior girl Yorkshire sports award. Zoë Clayton aged 17 years of age was nominated and won the Yorkshire young achiever of the year.
Chloe won the award for what she had achieved in her first season of competition, which in the opinion of a group of judges from the federation of disability sports has shown a great achievement at local and regional level and has the potential to progress onto the international scene.
Zoë who has had a marvellous year won the award for attaining a particular high standard at regional, national and international level.
The annual sports awards 2008 celebrates sporting achievement at the highest possible level and acknowledges the work of its athletes in the success in disability sports during the past year.
Both girls have showed good sportsmanship and aptitude within the sport and are both a great asset to the Yorkshire region and the sport. Disabled Swimmers at YSA County Championships 2008
The Yorkshire 2008 County Championships saw some of its Yorkshire disability swimmers compete at the competition for the first time. Four swimmers swam at the competition, Zoë Clayton (S10/Sb9), Zoë Cain (S6/Sb5) both swam at the senior meet in Feb. Andrew Gould (S10/Sb9) and Chloe Selman (S14) swam at the age group events.
Karen Selman says: "As Yorkshire disability team manager I would like to thank the YSA Swimming Committee for allowing disability swimmers to swim and to be recognised at these prestige events. It has given the swimmers the confidence and the full recognition and inclusion just like an able –bodied swimmer has. All the officials and staff have been wonderful, the crowd were cheering on and played a great part in the inclusion of the disability swimmers, and I would like to say a big thank you to all. All swimmers and parents had a great time at the events.
The Yorkshire region has some excellent 2012 Paralympics talent and hopefully the swimmers have showed the people of Yorkshire who went to the Championships how serious it is for them to be included. The team is continuing to grow in numbers and with the help of the Yorkshire Swimming Association the team will be a great success in securing their future.

Yorkshire Swimmers at the DSE National Junior Championships
Yorkshire disability team manager Karen and team staff, would like to congratulate all swimmers on there achievements at the DSE National Junior championships which was held at Ponds Forge on 1st/2nd March 2008. The Yorkshire disability swim team fought hard against tough opponents form other regions around Great Britain, including teams from Scotland, Ireland, Wales and also international representatives from Greece.
The team worked hard and achieved some great performances. The team was made up of seven junior members Zoë Clayton, Laurence Whitely (team Captains), Chloe Buck, Chloё Selman, Andrew Gould, Natasha Oates and Domanic Towers.
Zoe Clayton who trains with Doncaster Darts won 2 golds, 2 silvers and broke a championship record for 400 freestyle. Chloё Selman who is in the England national squad and trains with Stocksbridge Pentaqua & City of Sheffield, won 7 golds and broke 5 championship records for 100/200 IM, 100 freestyle, 100, backstroke and 50 fly. Chloe Buck new comer to the team from City of York gained 1 gold, 4 silvers, and 2 bronze. Natasha Oates another up and coming swimmer from Dearne Valley gained 1gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze, all swimmers gained personal best timings and as a team we had great fun.
Yorkshire will now see several of its elite disability swimmers, Zoë Clayton, Chloё Selman, Chloё Buck, Andrew Gould and Zoë Cain at the DSE international long course event in April. Zoë Clayton has also qualified for the Beijing Paralympics trials, so good luck from the team. The team would also like to thank Zoë for all her hard work over the years as a junior competitor, as this was Zoë’s last National Juniors, she has been a great asset to the team and a brilliant mentor to her younger team mates, but we will still see Zoë at other national events. The Yorkshire disability team staff and there families, wishes all swimmers good luck for the Internationals and their forthcoming season - so - watch this space!! Mencap Selection December 2007 The Yorkshire Disability swimming team would like to congratulate Chloe Selman who trains with Stocksbridge Pentaqua Swimming Club in Sheffield, on gaining a place in the Mencap national swimming squad. Her Coach David Wright said “This is excellent news for Chloe and the squad, I'm very proud of what Chloe has achieved in such a short time”. Chloe will represent Yorkshire and swim several events in March 08 at the Junior DSE Nationals alongside her team mates. Coaches Dave and Howard with Chloe.
DSE National Short Course Championships Sheffield Ponds Forge International pool November 3rd/ 4th 2007
Sheffield’s Ponds Forge was the venue for the DSE National short course championships. Once again the Yorkshire team were triumphant in winning several medals and introducing some young talented swimmers.
Yorkshire team manager Karen Selman was delighted with the swimmers performance and said that everyone had swum to their full potential and the wins was more than justified. All swimmers have worked very hard all year for this event, they have surpassed there own expectations. Everyone had a great time and Karen would like to congratulate all swimmers on there achievements at the nationals and wishes the swimmers good luck for the National junior championships which is going to be held in March 2008 at P Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
Yorkshire was finally placed 12th in the National event with a total of 5254 points.
